Combat systems from the demo

What the hands-on actually played

Xbox Wire’s Will Fulton played a brief Summer Game Fest: Play Days demo several hours into the game, with studio co-founder Mattias Ottval present. The session focused on combat and exploration basics—not a full campaign.

Xbox Wire describes the game as an atmospheric top-down 3D twin-stick shooter Metroidvania.

Movement and survival buttons

Walk with the left stick and aim 360 degrees with the right. Face buttons include a dodge roll and limited-use healing that recharges when using save pods on the map.

  • Dodge roll on a face button
  • Healing is limited until a save pod restores it
  • Controls were described as snappy in that demo

Pressure and crowds

The writer kited a room of tougher enemies and used a grenade to hit several at once. Shambling misshapen mutants are described in the industrial demo space.

Enemy names, health values, and a full bestiary are unconfirmed beside this fact.

Charge and throw timing

Holding fire on the pistol charges a powerful shot that temporarily drains the ability to shoot. The grenade control can be tapped for a close toss or held for a farther throw.
